Below are written directions to the Stanford Psychology Department and the Lucas Center (used for fMRI sessions). Alternatively, however, feel free to use our personalized Google Map for directions.

Directions to the Psychology Department

From San Francisco

  • Take Highway 101 South.
  • Exit at Embarcadero Rd. and head west.
  • Follow Embarcardero Rd for about 3.5 miles until you hit El Camino Real
  • Cross El Camino Real and the street name changes to Galvez St. You are now on Stanford Campus.
  • Follow Galvez St.
  • At the first Stop sign, turn right onto Campus Dr.
  • At the first Stop sign, turn left onto Palm Dr.
  • The end of Palm Drive is a large cul de sac in which parking is often available. If no parking is free, the next best spaces are at the intersection of Palm Dr. and Roth Way.
  • The Psychology Building is located in the Main Quad, the large Spanish style building at the end of Palm Drive, underneath the placard that reads "Jordan Hall."

From San Jose

  • Take Highway 101 North.
  • Exit at Embarcadero Rd. and head west.
  • Follow Embarcardero Rd for about 3.5 miles until you hit El Camino Real
  • Cross El Camino Real and the street name changes to Galvez St. You are now on Stanford Campus.
  • Follow Galvez St.
  • At the first Stop sign, turn right onto Campus Dr.
  • At the first Stop sign, turn left onto Palm Dr.

From Oakland/East Bay Area

  • Take Interstate 880 South.
  • Exit at the Dumbarton Bridge.
  • Cross the Dumbarton Bridge. There will be a $5 toll.
  • Continue on the road until it crosses Highway 101.
  • Take Highway 101 South.
  • Exit at Embarcadero Rd. and head west.
  • Follow Embarcardero Rd for about 3.5 miles until you hit El Camino Real.
  • Cross El Camino Real and the street name changes to Galvez St. You are now on Stanford Campus.
  • Follow Galvez St.
  • At the first Stop sign, turn right onto Campus Dr.
  • At the first Stop sign, turn left onto Palm Dr.

Directions to the Lucas Center

From 101 North or South

  • Take the Embarcadero exit towards Stanford.
  • Continue straight on Embarcadero for about 3.5 miles and cross El Camino Real.
  • Embarcadero enters the Stanford Campus and is now named Galvez St.
  • Make the first right off Galvez onto Arboretum Rd.
  • Turn left onto Quarry Rd. (this is the second big intersection).
  • Turn right at the stoplight at Welch Rd.
  • Follow Welch Rd., cross Pasteur Dr. (2 streets) and then pass through two stop signs.
  • When you get to a T-intersection, make a left onto Campus Dr.
  • Make the first left into the parking lot and park close to the entrance (do not drive down to the right, eastward, in the parking lot).
  • Parking is free after 5 pm and on weekends.
  • At the opposite side of the entrance to the parking lot, there is a pedestrian pathway (Governor's Lane) located between a large, gray, metal building on your right (Center for Clinical Sciences Research) and a smaller, beige stone structure on your left (Mayer Cancer Biology).
  • Walk down this pathway about 100 yards to the last (third) building on your left. This is the MSLS/Lucas Center building and the entrance is a round glass atrium (there may be paper signs on the door stating Radiology/Lucas Center).
  • If no one is waiting for you at this entrance, please pick up the phone in the gray box to the right outside the entrance and dial 3-8693 to let us know that you have arrived and someone will come and meet you.

From 280 North or South

  • Exit Sand Hill Rd. (East toward Stanford).
  • Follow Sand Hill Rd. for a few miles.
  • Turn right at Pasteur Dr.
  • Turn right at Welch Rd.
  • Follow Welch Rd., cross Pasteur Dr. (2 streets) and then pass through two stop signs.
  • When you get to a T-intersection, make a left onto Campus Dr.
  • Make the first left into the parking lot and park close to the entrance (do not drive down to the right, eastward, in the parking lot).
  • Parking is free after 5 pm and on weekends.
